Tavernier History Marker

IMG_1381Ever pondered your town’s origin? Don’t worry, I haven’t put too much thought into it either! If you’re ever in need of Tavernier’s town history, I can tell you exactly where to go.

I don’t want to spoil all the fun, thrill & excitement of finding out the town’s details on your own :-) so I’ll briefly cliff note the highlights.

1) Originally inhabited by Calusa & Tequesta Native American Indians

2) Discovered & Mapped by Spanish Explorer Juan Ponce de Leon in 1513

There, that’s enough! There’s two sides of the sign chock-full of illustrious history awaiting your arrival. I’ll see you there… hmm, on second thought “I’ve already read it!” :-)

You can find the ‘History Of Tavernier Marker’ about 50′ off US-1 at Mile Marker 92.0 oceanside in front of Old Settlers Park parking lot.
