A Walk On The Beach To Remember!

6933252621_a685eda7ba_bYou’d be hard pressed to find a more unique walk on the beach in the Florida Keys than this!

Absolutely beautiful, awe-inspiring and almost beyond words… almost. Resembling the surface of a far off planet, this beach… ok, coral rock in the middle of the ocean looks more like a lava field with trees. These razor-sharp edged stones will shred the bottom of your bare feet and test the soles of your thinly padded sandals so be sure to bring good sneakers! Sorry, no nightly sunset walks hand-in-hand in the surf and sand here. I assure you that this island’s coastline will leave you with a new meaning of beauty as you indulge in God’s evening concerto we call sunset!

You can find this hidden beach of a unique kind on Indian Key. You must first get there by going to Robbie’s Marina at Mile Marker 77.5 on US-1 bayside and purchase a ticket from one of the catamaran tour boat companies.

  1. Heading to the Keys in a couple of weeks. Will add this to our list of things to do. Thanks

    • Hello Mary, I was asked a few minutes ago if this beach was accessible by private boat to which I replied: Yes you can, it’s a State Park with a public pier. The island is visible from US-1 in the Atlantic no more than a 1/2 mile off shore. It’s a great place to visit with a number of historical sites. You can spend 1-2 hours there on your own with no problem.

Thanks for reading, you can browse through other blogs to find more that interest you. Let me know if you need any more info on any of them.

      • Thanks a lot. I will be reviewing a lot of your posts prior to the trip. For many years we went to Bahia Honda each spring but then we moved and this is our first visit in about seven years. Still looks as beautiful as in previous years.

      • You’re welcome, a lot has changed in 7 years, Bahia Honda on the other hand is just a beautiful as ever. Don’t be shy, let me know if I could help with any information. Thanks again. Mr. 365 Days
