Scooby-Doo… OK, it’s Scuba Do, oh well, close enough for my own play-on-words! 🙂 Unique & clever play-on-word business names have always tickled my fancy. The best one has to be a junk yard I saw named ‘Big Dam Mess’ getting its name from a big dam close by. Here, Scuba Do takes its name from the 1969 TV show Scooby- Doo.
TRIVIA TIME: Did you know that the name Scooby-Doo was derived from the Frank Sinatra song “Strangers in the Night” where he says ‘Dooby-dooby-doo’ naming the Great Dane Scooby-Doo! It’s true, I just looked it up on-line. 🙂 We all know that the internet invented by Al Gore NEVER LIES! 🙂 Scooby-dooby-doo!!
To be honest, the name isn’t the real draw, it’s the building itself! This former Harley Davidson Castle has been a tourist stop for years. The sight of seeing a castle along the main drive to Key West is so out-of-place that you just have to gawk at it.
You can find this uniquely looking castle on US-1 in Key Largo at Mile Marker 102.6 bayside. This is of course is FREE and makes a great scrapbook addition to any road trip photo album.
