President JFK Visits Key West

I must thank my aunt & uncle for this historical tip and knowledge based source, they always have the latest Key West History Newspaper waiting for me in our room (home away from home) upon each trips arrival.

I love these newspapers, they spotlight historical articles of interest that happened 40, 50 or 60 years ago along with great rare supporting photos. This particular monthly addition focuses on President John F.Kennedy’s visit to town on November 26th 1962 and the preparations Key West was taking along its borders and beaches complete with missiles as part of the Cuban Missile Crisis. I’ve always known of Key West’s involvement in this important part of our countries history including a secret inland Hawk Missile Base not found in any paper of the day but will be exposed in multiple future blogs.

You can find this unique history filled newspaper around town, its two most prominent locations are Fausto’s Food Palace on both 522 Fleming Street & 1105 White Street in Key West. Fausto’s Food Palace itself is local home town gourmet grocer that offers fine food and wine, food trays, gift baskets and FREE local deliveries. This monthly history lesson is full of many interesting articles and FREE to the public just waiting for you to snag your own souvenir copy to take home.
